MEDAN— President Joko Widodo invited all families in Indonesia to use their yards to grow crops and raise livestock to meet their daily food needs.
“Don’t let there be empty land. Use it for the nutritional intake of our children,” said President Joko Widodo in his remarks at the peak of the 29th National Family Day (Harganas) commemoration in Medan City on Thursday. (07/07/2022).

According to Jokowi, food independence for the Indonesian people is very important. “Producing daily food needs and increasing the nutritional intake of our children.” This is important. I keep repeating it, “said Jokowi.
According to the President, today’s children are the determinants of Indonesia’s future.
“If our children are smart and intelligent, it’s easy for us to compete with other countries.” But if our child is stunted, his nutrition is not good, his nutrition is not sufficient, then it will be difficult to compete with other countries, “said Jokowi.
In addition to families, the President also asked regional heads, regents, and mayors to encourage the planting of yards with food crops.
According to Jokowi, hard work and joint work between the community and the government are needed to reduce the prevalence of stunting.
Therefore, to reduce stunting, we really have to work hard to reduce the percentage. It must be reduced by 14% by 2024. Do you agree? ”

“Right now, all countries are not in a safe position. Be careful about this. “We have been facing a tough challenge for two and a half years, which is the COVID pandemic, which has not yet been completed,” said the President.
Even the President mentioned that several countries in Africa and Asia are currently experiencing an acute food crisis due to the Russia-Ukraine war.
At the end of his speech, Jokowi invited the public to maintain environmental health, both within the family and the environment around the family.
According to Jokowi, if all our families and communities move towards stunting reduction efforts carried out by the central, provincial, district, and city governments, they will quickly produce results. I am optimistic that in 2024, the 14 percent target will be achieved.

“The family is the first and foremost ecosystem in nurturing, in educating, and in forming healthy, nutritious, and quality human beings,” said the President.
Meanwhile, Head of the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) Hasto Wardoyo said in his report that Harganas was a moment of reflection and appreciation of the state for the important role of the family in building quality Indonesian human resources.
According to Hasto, the theme of Harganas for 2022 is Let’s Prevent Stunting so Families Are Stunting Free.
“This theme is related to the new task from the President to the BKKBN as the coordinator of stunting handling,” said Hasto.
The target for 2024 is 14%, which is achievable with serious efforts and hard work from all parties. One of them is through cross-sectoral collaboration from upstream to downstream interventions, specific and sensitive interventions, and the Pentahelix approach.
Hasto also mentioned the steps of RAN Pasti, namely the National Action Plan to Accelerate the Reduction of Stunting Rates.
The implementation of the RAN Pasti is carried out in various ways, including the formation of a team to assist families at risk of stunting. In the Harganas series, the One Million Acceptors Family Planning Service was held on June 15, 2022, with the achievement of 1,294 million new acceptors.

The peak of the 29th Harganas commemoration in Medan City was also attended by governors throughout Sumatra and regents and mayors who received the Satya Lencana Wira Karya and Manggala Karya Kencana awards to regional heads and heads of the PKK Mobilizing Team who excel in improving family planning and development programs.
The Harganas commemoration is held every year and is driven by the BKKBN.
